Javelin European Championship 2014

The Javelin European Championship took place at Bad Zwischenahn, Germany.  Eleven boats went from Great Britain to join the Dutch and German sailors, making 30 competitors taking part in the event.
The Earl brothers very nearly added this event to their wins, having won the Nationals earlier this year.  The Earl’s came second in their new Javelin, built by J J Boats.

Norfolk Punt Open Championship 2014

The Norfolk Punt Championship took place on Barton Broad on 16th and 17th August.  The wind was in a westerly direction which is not favourable on Barton, it was also very gusty making it hard racing.
James, with his brother Paul as crew, won the Championship for the ninth time and the Hard Chine Trophy for the eleventh time.

Congratulations to the Earl Brothers

Congratulations to the Earl Brothers for winning the 2014 Javelin National Championships, which took place at Southwold.  They won the event in their new

JJ Javelin with 4 firsts and 2 seconds.

This was their first main event in their new boat.  This is the first boat built since the new alterations to the mouldings.  It was built over the winter of 2013/2014 with some fittings fitted by J J Boats and the rest completed by the Earls.  The main change is that the 2 “broker” tanks have been incorporated into a new front tank mould, making cleaner lines, less fiddly little moulds that can leak and giving a far smarter look to the forward end of the cockpit.  This is also to make the hull stiffer around the centre case/mast area.  The centre spine has also been revamped to make it neater, stronger and easier to build.

The new look Javelin has been well received by all who have seen her.

JJ Phantom at 2013 Phantom Nationals

Charlie Cumbley Manager at North Sails One Design used my Phantom for the 2013 Nationals at Shoreham.  I asked him for his comments on the boat and this is what he wrote

“My comments are simply I think the boat is very good, it feels stiff and well built. The general control line layout is the best I have used and works immaculately so it’s just easy to jump in and go sailing. The deep cockpit is a massive leap forward, its much easier tacking and gybing particularly in any kind of seaway like Shoreham. Personally if I was going to buy a Phantom there is simply no other boat I would purchase, its a real step forward.”
